"Conflicting Spirits" is the story of the summoning of both evil and good spirits - the conflict of the title - whilst "A Miracle For Christmas" also introduces a character from the spirit world; it is perhaps the lightest of the set. A spirit also appears in "A Devil's Contract", but is much less benign than the others. "The Duke Seeks A Wife" is a parable of love and marriage set in the year 1500. Much more modern and very different, "A Nazi Youth" tells the story of a committed member of the Nazi youth movement, and the shattering shock that awaits him when he expresses a wish to join the SS. "Misconceived Socialism" is a counter-revolutionary work set in a contemporary Court room; as such it shares much with "The Terrorists", although the latter is set in a private house.
